Whats Your Taste in Camping Furniture?
Posted in: Camping Equipment
The internet provides all the things you can possibly need, including camping furniture - the huge number of internet camping websites means that you have plenty of choice.
A lot of things, including most camping furniture are a good deal cheaper on the internet than they are in the local stores. With all this choice you are bound to find whatever you need for your camping trip irrespective of your taste.
Some people dont have much use for camping furniture when they go on a camping trip. These campers are quite happy with a tent and a sleeping bag, both of which fit neatly into their backpacks. So long as they have warm, weatherproof clothing and comfortable hiking boots that is all the camping gear that they need.
Other people are only happy going camping if they have a full size trailer with its own bathroom and television. Most campers however, fall somewhere between these two extremes if youre going camping with children then you really do need more than just a tent and a sleeping bag.
If you are not too worried about a bit of discomfort and are quite happy to dig a pit for cooking then you will be able to travel lighter than those who want a bit more comfort. You could probably get by (in addition to tents and sleeping bags of course) with a good lantern, maybe an air bed if you prefer to be off the hard ground, a fold up table and a couple of chairs. This amount of camping furniture would probably suit your needs so long as you dont forget plenty of matches and perhaps some fire lighters. You would also need to make sure that the camp site allowed people to light fires for cooking.
Most people who go camping love the outdoors but still want to make their trip as comfortable as possible. This is so much easier today than it might have been twenty years ago. Far more thought and attention is put into the making of camping furniture now and manufacturers recognize that most people want to be as comfortable as possible.
Fold up camp beds mean that you are not at the mercy of every insect on the ground and you are more likely to have a better nights sleep. A good grill is also essential, but dont forget to take extra batteries if it is electric. A portable heater would take the chill off at night and an extra screen for your tent would keep away the mosquitoes. Youll want a table and chairs and possibly a portable shower not all campsites have showers. Get a good lantern and this should be sufficient camping furniture for most people.
Camping Equipment UK

Different weather conditions require different sorts of camping equipment. UK campers who decide to go camping at the end of summer will find that the evenings can get very cold. Make sure that you account for the cold and damp when you make your list of camping equipment. UK weather can be very unpredictable and so the best way to deal with it is to go prepared. Always make sure that you have listed everything that you think you will need while you are on your trip.
The first thing you should check before buying a tent is that it is made from fully waterproof material. You dont want to be woken up by a deluge of water because your tent was not up to coping with a heavy rainfall. Take plenty of layers of clothing, you can always take some off if it is warm. If youve got plenty of layers then you are prepared in case it turns cold cooler weather, especially in the evenings is more likely to happen if you go late in the season.
September for example can be very changeable so its best to be prepared. Dont forget to include some extra bedding in your camping equipment. UK evenings really do cool off in September. Buy the best sleeping bag that you can afford, one with a hood if possible use a sleeping pad under your sleeping bag, theyre inexpensive and make a good buffer between you and the cold ground.
Its a good idea to pitch your tent away from the direction of the wind giving yourself that extra bit of shelter will go a long way to offset cold, sleepless nights. Take an extra blanket as well as your sleeping bag and sleeping pad. If you wake up because you are cold then add an extra layer of clothing you can always remove it or open your sleeping bag a bit if you get over heated.
Have a hot drink before you settle down, and dont forget that old favorite the hot water bottle when youre drawing up your list of camping equipment. UK countryside can be very unforgiving of unwary travelers so make sure that you are well prepared before setting off.
Add a woolly hat and socks to your camping equipment. UK camping stores are full of both items. When your extremities are warm its easier for the rest of you to feel warm and then you can be ready to enjoy the next day. Even if the days are cooling off you will likely be involved in activities that will keep you warm anyway.
Camping Equipment: Tents Are Tops
Posted in: Camping Equipment
If you decide that youre going camping then the first thing to recognize is that the most important items of camping equipment, tents, are what you should be looking for first. Many businesses are now caught up in the internet enabling them to offer you, the camper, the widest range of choices possible. You will find that you need all kinds of camping equipment, tents however (unless you have an rv) are an essential part of almost everyones camping trip.
A growing number of people are taking to camping like ducks to water. Many of them also enjoy hiking and will hike from site to site across the countryside during their vacation. Hikers and backpackers will probably need less camping equipment. Tents need to be as lightweight as possible for backpackers as they will be carrying them wherever they go.
Depending on the time of year that you go camping, and also the terrain and weather conditions of the area that you choose, you will probably have different requirements for a tent. When you draw up your list of camping equipment tents may be a bit of an unknown quantity to start with. First of all you need to think about the size of tent that you may want. This doesnt just depend on the number of people you need to remember that although tents are sold that way some people are a lot bigger than others and therefore need more room. You also need to think about where to store your gear. If you are traveling by car this is not so much of a problem because it gives you some extra storage space.
No matter what you think you may want in camping equipment, tents will be the single biggest expense that you will face. Buy the best you can afford and it will last you a long time if you look after it. Find out whether the tent you are buying will withstand heavy weather if you think you might run into some bad weather conditions. Four seasons tents are generally thought to be the best at withstanding things like heavy winds and heavy snow fall anything lighter might collapse under the strain.
Finally when you go to buy your camping equipment tents should be thoroughly examined and zips and openings tested before you buy. Make sure that the zippers run smoothly and check out just exactly what kind of material your tent is made from. Try to find one that doesnt need too much in the way of guy ropes and tent pegs as these can be a real nuisance to erect.
